Trying to decide which baby formula is best for your baby can be quite confusing, with so many options available. Although the preferred method of feeding babies is breast milk, some babies simply don’t tolerate it and the mother must choose a formula. There are varieties for allergies and other health issues, so it’s important to experiment until you find the one that allows your baby to be comfortable and happy. Cow’s milk based formula is by far the most popular type of baby formula. It is far preferred by mothers whose babies won’t take breast milk.
Gentle formula is great for babies who experience a little discomfort with cow’s milk as it contains less lactose. There is also Lactose-free for those babies with lactose intolerance. For babies with acid reflux, there’s added rice starch formula. Soy formula is great for babies with milk protein allergies and is becoming more popular. There is also special high-calorie formula for premature babies to help meet their unique nutritional needs. Elemental formulas are for those with soy and milk allergies; while amino acid based formulas are for those with soy and milk allergies that won’t tolerate elemental. It’s easy to see why choosing the right baby formula could be confusing. The most important thing is to partner with your doctor and pay attention to baby’s reaction to the new formula.
