im confused with when to pump my breast. i got the ameda purely yours today and im tying to stack up on my?
breast milk to have stored when i return to work, and so i can let my mother in law feed her when we got out to do something. i pumped when i got home from getting it at 11ish. my baby nursed on one breast, and i pumped the other and got 3oz. then i nursed her again at 1ish on the same breast i nursed on the time before. i havent pumped again since because i dont know which one to pump. i nursed her again on the breast i pumped at 3ish. when should i pump?
I think that when and how you pump is really a personal decision. I started pumping in the hospital and continued pumping the entire time I nursed, 11 and 1/2 months. When I started pumping the hospital’s lactation consultant recommended that I pump after I nursed which I did for a while, but I discovered that for my son and I pumping before he nursed worked really well. My son was able to get mostly hind milk when he nursed and because I had just pumped, latching on and nursing were really simple for him. I had to return to work when he was 8 weeks old and at that time I would nurse him when I woke up, then pump. I would pump at my 9:00 break and then again at my lunch. I would pick him up from day care and nurse when I came home. I would pump later in the evening and then nurse again at bedtime. I was able to constantly have enough milk for day care and overnight visits to gramma and grampas. When I did stop nursing I still had over 100 ounces of milk frozen which came in handy when my son had the flu and could not have cows milk. I would love to talk with you more about pumping because I am a big advocate of pumping and of breastfeeding. If you want to chat more e-mail me: willandcarolann@yahoo.com Good Luck.
